LBO was founded in 1994 by long time community activist Charles Moore with the vision of turning vacant urban lots into viable organic gardens. Today the vision of LBO extends to the creation of school gardens and educational programs, a thriving organic nursery, as well as a community resource center for those interested in pursuing organic gardening and supporting local organic farms.
